After approx. 2 weeks of my online application, I was contacted by an internal recruiter. I did a phone interview and on the same day he invited me to an onsite interview the following week. At the onsite interview, I met 2 Brazilian managers (expatriates sent to Canada from the HQ in Brazil) They asked me behavioral questions related to the job and other questions to confirm skills and knowledge about specific software. The questions were easy and the managers were both very friendly; however I noticed they did not write anything down! (After I joined the company, I learned that this is "normal" practice. No one records the information given by candidates!) The third interview was a conference call with a senior manager and an associate in the team. Overall very polite and the questions were easy to handle. They explained some responsibilities and team characteristics but not in much detail. I wish I asked more questions at these interviews! About a week after the last call, I got contacted by the recruiter and he sent me a written offer. The background check included speaking to 3 references and checking criminal record. I accepted the offer but regretted it very badly! The job was not what they had told me, and the culture was really terrible! I made the mistake of looking only at the reviews from Brazil, which are all 4 & 5 stars. I missed the few pointers from Canadian employees that describe the bureaucratic, unethical and "old-boy-school" culture that stifles innovation and demotivates anyone with some degree of intelligence. If you're applying to any office outside of Brazil, don't be fooled! This company is only suited for Brazilians, which is very unfortunate given that Canada is a multi-cultural country that prides iteself on its diversity.
