Our architecture and urbanism group has a relationship with the upscale retailer Nordstrom dating back nearly 50 years, having delivered shopping experiences and innovative retail environments in more than 250 new and remodeled stores. This includes Nordstrom’s Manhattan flagship store, created to reflect the spirit of the city and Nordstrom customers. The seven-level, 320,000-square-foot space occupies the base of the tallest residential building in the Western Hemisphere and is one of the first new stores of its size to open in Manhattan since the 1920s. Highlights include a wave-form glass façade to give an interactive viewing experience from both inside and outside, connecting the store to the city around it, as well as soaring 19-foot ceilings, custom lighting design and an open floor plan. These elements work together to form a shopping experience that is unique and easy to navigate. #Ibelong #ArcadisIBelong

The impacts of climate change - from heatwaves to flooding - are being felt all around the world. We know we need to protect our assets, like buildings and infrastructure, but how can we assess the level of risk? Find out how we worked with our client to develop a climate change risk assessment and adaptation framework for a portfolio of more than 1,200 buildings. Our iterative approach means our client has the knowledge and tools to better manage its buildings over the longer term, regardless of different climate change scenarios or the severity of climate-related impacts. Sydney’s expected population growth over the next 20 years created a need for new road infrastructure to meet the increasing demand for transport and road use. Arcadis played a critical role in the construction of the 7.5 km link tunnels which connect Sydney’s M4 and M5 motorways with the city, Airport, and Port Botany. The project opened ahead of schedule and is already significantly improving Sydney’s traffic network, local roads, and public places. Scope 3 emissions are indirect greenhouse gas emissions connected to a process, project, or corporation via its relationships to other entities in the supply chain. For some, reporting Scope 3 emissions can be tough--even renewable energy and EV companies may have significant Scope 3 numbers. However, studies and experience show some surprising advantages for companies that measure and report their Scope 3 emissions. In our new blog, Alyssa Graham discusses the benefits of measuring Scope 3 data, and how collaboration helps reach sustainability goals: https://www.arcadis.com/en-us/Knowledge-Hub/Blog/United-States/Alyssa-Graham/2023/The-scariest-emissions-to-measure-may-provide-surprising-advantages
