In 2020, MetLife developed a Sustainable Financing Framework to facilitate alignment of our business and investment activities to support and drive a more sustainable future. Soon after, we launched the U.S. insurance industry’s first green funding agreement-backed note. Today, we are proud to highlight the progress we have made on the sustainability initiatives allocated to this agreement, including renewable energy, green buildings, and environmentally sustainable management of natural resources.
In partnership with the UN, MetLife is committed to building a better workplace and society for women and girls, including closing the gender gap through STEM education and financial empowerment.
Today we celebrate MetLife’s interns all over the world, acknowledging their commitment to enhancing their professional acumen, building their networks, and deepening their knowledge with on-the-job experience. As the future of our agile workforce, interns are pioneering virtual and hybrid models, using resources to make meaningful connections around the globe. To the interns doing the work this summer, we celebrate you!
As a global insurer and purpose-driven company, we are continually adapting to meet the needs of a changing world. Read the highlights in our announcement.

In his annual letter to shareholders, CEO Michel Khalaf discusses how MetLife is emerging from the pandemic with confidence and an even deeper commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
MetLife issued the following statement on voting rights in America: “The right to vote in America is absolutely fundamental. It’s what gives people the power of self-determination and the ability to have their voices heard. MetLife believes any effort to limit the ability of Black Americans to exercise this hard-won civil right undermines democracy. We believe America is a better place when every voice is heard and every vote counts.” — Michel A. Khalaf, President & CEO.
Our commitment to our employees, customers, and the communities we serve is to foster an inclusive culture where everyone’s voice is valued and heard. MetLife stands in solidarity with the Asian-American community. On March 26th, MetLife will join a virtual action day with Partnership for New York City and Representative Grace Meng to speak out against anti-Asian prejudice. Join us by using the hashtag #STOPASIANHATE.
