“Watching that first order be placed on the Uber Eats app we wrote was exciting and frightening. A few months into working from home this past year, it was clear that parents and caregivers were struggling. Seeing Uber provide economic opportunity in his local Atlanta community, David Getachew-Smith, Jr. joined in 2014 with a drive to be part of this new business and have a positive impact on his hometown. “My early experiences are rooted in a mix of Ethiopian culture and the history of Atlanta’s African American community. I was taught early on by my family to invest in my community and to try to have a positive impact. Joining Uber was one of the results of that lesson I heard over and over again." Despite growing up blocks from Wall Street, Joe Chang has always been a techie at heart, hacking around on his Commodore 64 and IBM XT as a kid. Today, Joe is Uber Freight’s Director of Engineering, merging his software background with the opportunity to shape a business. “Uber Freight is a product that requires the mix of business and tech so this position has been one that has challenged both sides of my identity.”
Meet Paige Sammarco, Account Executive for Uber Eats. Paige joined Uber in 2018 and has since helped add over a thousand new restaurants to the platform across cities in the United States. She founded and has led our Women at Uber Chicago ERG since 2019 and created the idea behind Uber Eats’ Women’s Restaurant Week this past March.
