This apprenticeship is an opportunity to work on construction projects ranging from residential homes to nuclear power plants.

Sprinkler Fitters Local Union 669 membership provides a comprehensive correspondence program to learn the trade of sprinkler system installation. The Local 669 is affiliated with the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States. The apprenticeship is a five-year program with on-the-job training and coursework through a national university. Individuals are eligible to become a member of the Local 669 after joining the apprenticeship program and completing a six-month probationary period.

An apprentice is paid a percentage of the journeyman wage. Every six months the apprentice’s records are reviewed to make sure there is satisfactory progress, both in the field and in training courses. Satisfactory progress leads to advancement to the next classification and a wage increase until the five-year program is complete. If individuals have completed college courses, a military background, or experience/background in another field, they may receive credits that will advance their class number and hourly wage.

This position is eligible for full insurance benefits, a pension and 1 week sick time annually.

Qualifications:

Applicants must be organized, professional, self-motivated, mechanically-inclined, work well under pressure, and have excellent communication skills. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, have a High School Diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record. They must be physically able to perform manual labor and be comfortable with ladders and lifts. Reliable transportation is necessary.
