      Candidatei-me por meio de recrutador(a). O processo levou 3 semanas. Fiz uma entrevista na empresa The Washington Post.

      Entrevista

      This was my second time through with the Post, and (despite the offer) was my second bad experience. I interviewed for a lead role and received very positive feedback on what was (supposed to be) the process as described -- a screen, a combination behavioral/technical interview, and another leadership-oriented interview. However, the Post then decided to tack on another step in the process, around system/AWS design. As someone who has helped shape the interview process at his current company, I could tell that the engineer running this last step was very unprepared, and that this was something they were trying for the first time. I have done system interviews before, and have always done well; unfortunately, the engineer conducting this portion was very insistent that it was supposed to be "quick and easy," and, when I asked questions about constraints and parameters -- you know, systems-building 101 -- they were clearly annoyed and unable to answer the question well. They also confessed to me that they hadn't actually conceived of a solution to their own interview question. Later, I received an offer, but not one for the role I applied for, and the compensation number was, to be frank, insulting. It would have represented a large decrease from where I currently stand, and the Post was unwilling to negotiate with me.

      A pretty easy full-stack take home test. Standard, STAR-style behavioral questions. A really, really poorly thought-out AWS/systems interview that was tacked on for no apparent reason.
