- Recruiter first contact by LinkedIn for a position in Madrid.
- Phone call with recruiter.
- Screen interview with 3 engineers (background, a few technical questions, ...)
- On-site interview in Barcelona:
- Screen interview with hiring manager.
- Background interview with 2 engineers.
- Culture interview with 2 engineers.
- 2 hours of pair programming.
Everything was pretty cool and the people super nice, but I have to rate it as negative because of the on-site operations. I had to wake up at 5:30AM, travel by train, do the on-site interview (the whole day) and travel again in the same day. It was exhausting.
Also, I had to take a cab because I was running late (train arrived at 9:30AM and interview started at 10:00AM), take breakfast in the train, go to a take-away place to grab some food, take another cab to go back to the train station..., and they have no reimbursement policy for any of this. Everything was around 50€ but IMHO, if you are saving money not booking a hotel night, you should, at the very least, reimburse the must-take expenses.
I hope this only happens in the Madrid office, and I will not participate again if the process is in the same location.
