Entrevista
I recently interviewed for the Senior Unity Developer role at Thoughtworks, a position for which I am fully qualified with 5 years of relevant experience. The process included five stages:
1. Screening round (30 minutes)
2. Pair programming in C# (1.5 hours)
3. Technical round (1 hour)
4. Leadership round (1 hour)
5. Client matching round (20 minutes)
The first four rounds were comprehensive but went smoothly. The interviewers seemed impressed with my skills, knowledge of Unity, and C# expertise, and I was confident about moving forward.
However, my experience took a sharp turn during the final stage with the client.
Despite excelling in the prior rounds, I received unexpected feedback from the client. They stated that they were looking for someone with more experience and perceived my background as being more data-focused due to my recent Azure cloud and data certifications. While I only briefly mentioned these certifications to showcase my continuous learning, they were misinterpreted, which felt unfair given the technical focus of the earlier rounds.
It was disheartening to have the entire process hinge on a 20-minute client interaction after Thoughtworks interviewers had already expressed confidence in my capabilities. I believe this process could be significantly improved by conducting the client matching interview earlier in the stages, avoiding unnecessary rounds if the client’s requirements differ from the candidate’s profile.
While Thoughtworks has an excellent reputation, my experience highlights a misalignment in the hiring process that could deter talented candidates.
