An industry first! On a path towards zero-emissions carbon black in tire manufacturing, Goodyear and Monolith recently announced that we will use Monolith carbon black produced by methane pyrolysis in the tire tread of a select size of our ElectricDrive GT. “The use of carbon black produced by methane pyrolysis is an example of how we are collaborating with our suppliers, like Monolith, to utilize sustainable materials in our consumer products, without compromising on performance and safety,” said Chris Helsel, senior vice president global operations, and Chief Technology Officer.

One of Amber’s wins as a construction project engineer was the planning and installation of a first-of-a-kind machine to meet tire requirements for an exciting new car company. “It took a ton of coordination to ensure the team met schedule and overcame any obstacles. Introducing #Goodyear’s 90% sustainable-material demonstration tire. Today, Goodyear unveiled a 90% sustainable-material demonstration tire, which includes 17 featured ingredients across 12 different components. This demonstration tire has passed all applicable regulatory testing as well as Goodyear’s internal testing. This demonstration tire also tested to have lower rolling resistance when compared to the reference tire, made with traditional materials. This launch is a true team effort with associates across the globe collaborating. Thank you #TeamGoodyear for all of your hard work! Goodyear also plans to sell a tire with up to 70% sustainable-material content in 2023. These are both significant steps toward achieving the company’s goal of introducing a 100% sustainable-material tire by 2030.
