Our new menu launched last month and fans have been enjoying our new burger, The Big Cheese. Grilled halloumi topped with our red pepper and pineapple salsa, sliced avocado and Churrasco PERinaise. It's served in our new rustic Portuguese roll, made with Wildfarmed regenerative flour. Wildfarmed grow wheat in a way that puts soil health first - it’s pretty impressive, and it’s helping us serve up some very tasty Portuguese rolls. Thank you Wildfarmed!
No experience? No problem. We’re all about helping our people be their best selves, including Gemma from our Newbury restaurant who recently became an Assistant Manager 🎉 hear her story here: “I started in Nando’s as a Nandoca (Team Member) in 2017, where I continued to work when I was back from studying at university, and I’m now an Assistant Manager. “Working at Nando’s has given me the opportunity to grow not only professionally but as an individual. Since starting at just 16 years old, the skills I’ve learnt throughout my different roles has grown my confidence immensely. I’ve met so many great people who’ve supported me and got me to the position I’m in today. Everyone looks out for each other and even on the busier shifts, we still find a way to make it fun!”
Salas is an Assistant Manager in our Canary Wharf Jubilee Place restaurant, but he’s more than just a leader - he’s a motivator, committed to making a difference and also an author. Like our founders, Salas has a vision of helping others and making a difference in people’s lives. With the support of Nando’s he recently went on a journey to our homeland of South Africa where he connected with over 4000 children, and shared his story of resilience and kindness. He told us: “This journey wasn’t about me, it was about proving that anyone, no matter where they’re from, can do something powerful if they lead with kindness and action. The energy of the country, rich in history and resilience, inspired me. It was about feeling the energy of a country that’s seen so much and it made everything I've worked for finally align. No matter how small you feel, you’re capable of doing big things if you stay true to your intentions and act with kindness.” Salas’ work has left a lasting impression on the children he met, but his mission’s far from over - his next goal is to create a community centre and safe space where children can come together, dream big and learn essential life skills.
Happy Pride Month to everyone celebrating 🌈 Many of our Nandocas will be flying their flags in the coming weeks to celebrate Pride around the UK and Ireland, with Steve from our L&D Team leading the charge at Birmingham Pride last week. He told us: “It was a pleasure to work in partnership with our Birmingham City Centre restaurant teams at Pride. Partaking in events like Birmingham Pride demonstrate to our Nandocas and customers that it is ok to be who they are, to love who they love and that everyone is welcome. "The Nandocas showed up with lots of energy, passion and a gratitude that Nando’s had shown up for them as not just allies, but in celebration of who they are as individuals. It’s amazing that our teams can get involved with events like this allowing them to be seen, heard and valued.” Spicy and Proud. #ItsANandosThing
We recently went up and down the country, turning some of our restaurants into comedy clubs for the night with seasoned and budding comedians alike taking to the mic for our lucky audiences, with some PERi-PERi to feast on of course. One of those budding comedians was our very own Zach, a Nandoca (Team Member) in our Ashton Moss restaurant who told us about his experience: “When I found out I would be performing I didn’t believe it at first, but with every conversation and email about it made it feel so real, and I was nervous but it went great. “If I described my comedy style as a spice level it would definitely be Extra Hot, because you’ll be crying after you hear my set. Also goes with the territory of having red hair. The whole experience has given me a massive confidence boost to do more. Did someone say Live at the Apollo?”
“Sunshine, steps, and smiles. Our Mental Health Awareness Week walk from Putney to Battersea was the perfect way to unwind, connect with colleagues (some for the first time!), and take in the city views. It was a reminder of the power of community. Big shout out to the organisers and everyone who came along for 90 minutes of fresh air, laughter, and meaningful conversations. Here's to more walks and wellbeing" - Miriam from our People Team Find out more about Mental Health Awareness Week here >> https://www.mentalhealth.org.uk/our-work/public-engagement/mental-health-awareness-week
Time to get fired up for Grillers’ Challenge 2025 🔥 Our annual competition is back across the UK & Ireland, with the heroes of our restaurants - our Grillers - flexing their skills on the grills with some of the finest PERi-PERi chicken grilled to perfection for our lucky judges to try. The 3 winners will be representing the UK & Ireland at our International Grillers’ Challenge in Edinburgh in September 🙌 Check out how our UK & Ireland final went down last year here, with Macey from our Warrington Golden Square restaurant taking the crown 👑
We’re buzzing to have won the Restaurant Brand of the Year 2025 at the Casual Dining Awards, voted for by a panel of industry leaders and experts. Our third Casual Dining Award in three years 🏆🏆🏆 As we say – it’s the people that make the chicken. These awards wouldn’t be possible without the hard work of our Nandocas around the UK & Ireland, so massive shout out to you all for your incredible work 💪
We’re all about helping our people be the best versions of themselves, so a massive congrats to Jason in our York Vangarde Monks Cross restaurant Jason who recently stepped up to become an Assistant General Manager 👏 he told us about his journey: “I joined Nando’s in 2022. I came from a leading supermarket, which I thought was my forever job as I absolutely loved it but when I joined Nando’s, they showed me a whole new way of life - a company that actually cares for the individual. I’ve grown so much since joining, not only as a person but as a leader. “I’ve had so many opportunities here. James, my Patrao (General Manager), always encouraged me to make relationships and learn from others in the region which led me to hosting our regions Grillers’ Challenge last year, which went down an absolute storm! That was my highlight with Nando’s so far. I’d like to thank my whole team at Vangarde who make me feel welcome and happy coming into work every day, they’re my second family and we work hard for each other whilst having fun. "The autonomy in decision making and the freedom to be me is liberating. I honestly love this company, my restaurant and those who I’ve met outside the restaurant. The values and living by them, make me proud to be a Nandoca.” What can we say, skills and passion with bottomless growth.
All aboard for Platform 🔟 We recently brought our leaders from across the UK & Ireland together for Platform 10 – an immersive experience and to share our Extra Hot plans for the future. It wasn’t just an event, it was a celebration of everything we’ve achieved and a taste of what’s coming next. We took a trip down memory lane and shared our favourite Nando’s moments, reminding us of how far we’ve all come over the last decade, including how our restaurants have had quite the glow up ✨ and of course, plenty of heart-warming stories of how Nando’s has made an impact in local communities over the years, and how we’ll keep doing so.
