The Peach 20/20 Hero & Icon Awards celebrate the very best our industry has to offer each year. Last night we were buzzing to have won the Sustainability Champion Award 🙌 the award was voted for by industry peers for our efforts in employability, waste reduction, carbon reduction and food donations. Thank you to all of our Nandocas who helped us achieve this, and help us to have a positive impact in communities and on the planet.
This October, we've been sparking some important conversations with our Nandocas... We had senior managers speak about menopause at our panel event, sharing their experiences and sparking open discussions around it. We also fuelled an event for our friends at Milk Honey Bees, empowering young black women through creative workshops and expert panels. You can find out more about their great work here >> https://milkhoneybees.co.uk/
Following the fiery national competitions around the world earlier this year, our International Grillers’ Challenge competition returned in Botswana. Representing the UK & Ireland were Macey (Warrington Golden Square restaurant), Kieran (Watford High Street) and Bailey (Chatham) grilling the finest PERi-PERi chicken for our lucky judges to try. There could be only one winner…many congrats to Odirile from Nando’s Botswana who is our International Grillers’ Challenge champion for 2024! 🔥 Check out the video here from the competition showcasing the passion and pride of Nando's Grillers from around the globe 🌎
Welcome to our newest restaurant, Northampton Sixfields 😍 For the fans of the nearby Cobblers and the Saints, our new stunning restaurant is the perfect pit stop before or after the game, surrounded by original Southern African artwork to have the finest PERi-PERi. Kat, the Patrao (General Manager) of the restaurant joined Nando’s in 2009, working her way to becoming a Patrao five years later. Now leading a team of over 60 fired-up Nandocas in Sixfields, Kat and the team will also be supporting Foodkind, who are a not-for-profit organisation which promotes sustainability by preventing food and goods from going to waste. You can find out more about the amazing work they do here >> https://foodkind.co.uk/
From unexpected flavour combinations to spooky goings-on at the drinks machine, we've been encouraging fans to enter their weird era this Halloween. Some of our restaurants got taken over too. We hosted a movie night in our Dublin St Andrew's Street restaurant, and threw a massive party at our Manchester Printworks restaurant. Shout out to our amazing Nandocas that embraced the spooky spirit and helped make it all happen 👻
Our new menu just dropped and it includes a brand-new guest spice on our PERi-ometer, Nando’s x Fanta (limited time only). Nando's and Fanta Orange Zero Sugar have long gone hand in hand, with flavour fans across UK & IRE making the most of our bottomless drinks offering to complement their PERi-PERi, or to cool-off after an Extra Hot meal. It was time to take this collab one step further...
Nando’s Indaba - a gathering of leaders and what we call our annual work conference. It’s all about connection, fun, reflection, coming together as a family and creating unforgettable memories in a way that only Nando’s can. This year we went to Lisbon for our Indaba, returning to the country which gave us so much inspiration and influence to reconnect with our purpose, and came back fired-up and burning even brighter than before 🔥 Have a watch here to see and hear how our leaders experienced Indaba this year.
Once a year, we invite our Nandocas (Team Members) to our regional Nandoca Forums. They’re listening forums where a representative from each restaurant can connect with each other and to speak to senior management and Central Support teams to share the thoughts, feelings and ideas on behalf of their team about their restaurant, Nando’s in general and what they think could be better. It’s also an opportunity for them to hear about what exciting things are happening in Nando’s for them to take back to their teams to get them fired-up for the future. Kaiten from our Enfield Retail Park restaurant let us know about the forum he attended: “In the Forum, we heard about what’s happening in the Nando’s world and learnt about different programmes Nando's have for career progression, which I then could go and inform my team about. We also had the time and opportunity to speak to our Area Manager directly about what we’d like to change or improve about our restaurants or Nando’s overall, which can then be shared with senior managers in Nando’s to help make those improvements. By attending and representing the Enfield Retail Park restaurant, I felt very proud and honoured. Everyone from my restaurant cheered me on which was heart warming and was sentimental to me as I felt the value that I bring to our team. Now when I enter work, I always come in with a smile."
We know Nando’s is full of people who are smashing it in and out of work. One of which is Jack, 23, who is an Assistant Manager in our Cardiff Capital Retail Park restaurant. Jack’s been with us for just over two years and is a big fan of slow mornings and PERi-Tamer wings. He told us more about his Nando’s journey: “Whilst I was at my first Nando’s in Talbot Green, I helped open Swansea Morfa as part of the Buddy Trainer team. A few months later, I was invited to help open Cardiff Capital Retail Park and even stay permanently as part of the management team. From there, I began my internal progression project and 12 weeks later, I passed and became an Assistant Manager! “A typical day for me, after a slow and leisurely wake up, I attack the day – and usually some PERi-Tamer wings, Spicy Rice and Broccoli. When I’m not on the restaurant floor flexing my management skills, you can find me on days out at the beach or at home cooking. “My favourite work memory has to be the day I passed my internal progression project to become a Manager – I was over the moon. The reactions I got to me passing (and celebrating my achievement) will probably always be my favourite Nando's memory.”
Welcome to the newest restaurant in our portfolio, Nando’s Garston 😍 Displaying the finest arts in all of Herts, the restaurant has beautiful original Southern African art lining its walls to gaze at while sipping a Coke Zero or a cool pint of Sagres or a refreshing frozen cocktail, which are available at the new restaurant. Amit, the Patrao (General Manager) of the restaurant started with us as an Assistant Manager over 5 years ago. He led teams in some of our restaurants in London and Hertfordshire, and now leads a team of over 30 fired-up Nandocas, serving up the finest PERi-PERi in the whole of Watford (excluding our other two Watford restaurants obvs). The Garston team are supporting the Dream Earth Project as their local community partner, who focus on sustainable solutions for food surplus generated by local businesses. They’re donating food to them as part of our ‘No Chuckin’ Our Chicken’ programme.
