Why should we hire you?
The behvioral based questions used the STAR format, (Situation, Task, Action, Result.) This allows the interviewer to gather information about a specific capacity that the job requires. Situation: The interviewer wants you to present a recent challenge and situation in which you found yourself. Task: What did you have to achieve? The interviewer will be looking to see what you were trying to achieve from the situation. Action: What did you do? The interviewer will be looking for information on what you did, why you did it and what the alternatives were. Result: What was the outcome of your actions? What did you achieve through your actions and did you meet your objectives? What did you learn from this experience and have you used this learning since?
Why did you leave company XYZ? ( asked by 4 of 7 people) Answer: I left because the project completed successfully and the contract expired. Question: Yeah, But why did you leave? Answer: The contract wasn't expired and I wasn't going to get payed for showing up. Question: So that's why you left???
I see you have managed laboratories at your last two positions, how does you experience with the management of the laboratory correlate to managing projects and teams where you do not have managerial authority?
