PERi-PERi Saka. A feast for the eyes, too. We brought in our talented friend and artist Reuben Dangoor to create the bottle design. It’s the first time we've collaborated with an artist on our famous restaurant sauce bottles and demonstrates our continued commitment to championing art in our restaurants. Reuben talked us through some of the inspiration for the design: “I wanted to keep the bottle design focused on hot sauce and flavour. Saka had the nickname Little Chilli which was a starting point. PERi-PERi Chillies are the foundation for hot sauce, and in my work I often like to turn things into other things, so Saka became an actual chilli and chillies became the word Saka.”
Introducing our new Head Chef, Bukayo Saka and his debut sauce, PERi-PERi Saka 🌶️ Sweet and fiery with a little (free) kick, we teamed up with the Starboy to combine his favourite flavours with our legendary PERi-PERi. PERi-PERi Saka sauce is available in all UK & Ireland restaurants, for a limited time.

To wrap up National Apprenticeship Week, we heard from Lucy, our Early Careers Manager: “What an amazing National Apprenticeship Week we’ve had! I was delighted to welcome our Apprentices to their Graduation Ceremony where we got to celebrate their incredible achievement properly. We had a truly brilliant trip to the House of Commons where we got to chat to some MP’s and discuss the future of Apprenticeships, and best of all we got to do what we love most which is spend time with and shout about how proud we are of our team who’ve committed to their professional development through completing our apprenticeship. “I’m so excited for this year as we look to increase hires through our School Leaver Programme in the summer and increase the amount of courses we offer to our existing Team Members.” if you want to know more, please visit our careers page >> https://bit.ly/3SGCv0C
“I joined the apprenticeship in 2022. I joined as a Supervisor and I’m now an Assistant General Manager. It broadened my knowledge in hospitality, not just my restaurant but also key skills such as time keeping, communication, and adapting my style. Before I started the apprenticeship I was nervous, and I didn’t have confidence in myself but now I have the confidence to manage my team, speak openly to wider teams and I know I can do anything I put my mind too. It’s really helped me grow both personally and professionally. "It was a huge surprise winning Outstanding Apprentice of the Year award. I’m very grateful and couldn’t have achieved it without Nando’s and Jenny, my Patrao (General Manager)” – our award winning Chloe from our Orpington Nugent restaurant, yesterday at the Hospitality Apprenticeship Showcase in the House of Commons. Today kicks off National Apprenticeship Week - a week-long celebration that brings together businesses and apprentices across the country to shine a light on the positive impact that apprenticeships make to individuals, businesses and the wider economy. We heard from Maria, our Chief People Officer, around her thoughts on apprenticeships: “We’re passionate about giving people a chance to learn, develop and build a career – it’s at the heart of what we do and something we all share responsibility for. We know that when we grow others, we grow ourselves and in turn we help to grow Nando’s. “Our apprenticeship programmes – including our recently launched School Leavers’ Programme – give people the chance to get a qualification while getting paid, as well as the chance to progress, meet new people and be part of amazing teams. We’re proud that all Nando’s apprentices receive the same hourly pay and benefits, like free meals, discounts and a paid sabbatical after five years, as all of our Team Members. “There are some incredible opportunities in the hospitality sector, come and give us a try.” Find out more about our apprenticeship programme here >> https://bit.ly/48VwWAY
This week at our Wimbledon restaurant we hosted a Community Hire Event with candidates from SPEAR London and GMTW Youth Club. Karina from our Recruitment Team tells us more about it: “It was really nice to host an event in the community where we inspired lots of potential new Nandocas (Team Members) by sharing our stories and experiences throughout our time in Nando's. Our main goal for the day was not only to inspire but also to showcase our career development opportunities in our restaurants. This day was proven to be a great opportunity not only for the candidates but also for us to give back to the community by supporting these bright and talented young jobseekers. We were extremely lucky to be able to meet such a passionate bunch of people who are definitely very keen and enthusiastic about joining our team. I left the day feeling the impact they had on us and that we had on them, it was great!” Karina pictured alongside Megan (Employer Engagement Manager at Fareshare UK), Jess (our Community Employer Lead) and Dom (General Manager of our Wimbledon restaurant) You can find out more about the amazing work SPEAR and GMTW do on their websites: https://www.spearlondon.org/ https://www.getmetowork.co.uk/
