Senior SQL / Reporting Developer (Contractor)
Position Summary
This role requires deep expertise in SQL development, reporting solutions (SSRS / Power BI), and business requirements analysis, with the ability to translate complex business needs into scalable technical solutions within a financial services environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise reporting solutions using SSRS and/or Power BI• Develop advanced SQL queries, stored procedures, and scripts for data extraction, transformation, and analysis• Gather, analyze, document, and validate business and technical requirements (BRDs)• Translate business requirements into scalable reporting and data solutions• Develop and execute test validation processes to ensure reporting accuracy and data integrity• Document business processes, data flows, and technical specifications to support development teams• Partner with business and technology stakeholders to define project scope, estimates, and implementation plans• Create and maintain project documentation, status reports, and delivery schedules• Collaborate with UX/design resources to support report prototyping and usability improvements• Apply risk management, issue tracking, and change management best practices throughout project delivery• Support troubleshooting, issue resolution, and continuous enhancement of reporting solutions
Required Qualifications
• 5+ years of experience in SQL development and enterprise reporting• Advanced experience with Microsoft SQL Server and/or Oracle databases• Strong hands on experience developing reports and dashboards using SSRS and/or Power BI• Advanced proficiency in writing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and data manipulation scripts• Proven experience gathering business requirements and producing Business Requirements Documents (BRDs)• Strong understanding of data validation, testing methodologies, and reporting accuracy controls• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and business stakeholders• Experience working within enterprise and cloud based environments• Strong analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting capabilities• Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience within financial services, trust platforms, or accounting systems• Experience with multiple reporting and BI tools• Familiarity with large scale enterprise application environments• Exposure to vendor coordination, production support, and incident resolution processes• Knowledge of data governance and regulatory reporting practices is a plus
