Business Analyst – Financial Reporting (BI/ThoughtSpot)
We are looking for a Business Analyst with strong financial reporting and BI expertise to support a strategic transformation initiative within a global financial environment.
This role is part of a large-scale financial systems modernization program, including the implementation of OneStream and the migration from Hyperion (HFM) to modern BI platforms such as ThoughtSpot.
The ideal candidate will act as a bridge between finance, data, and technology teams, translating complex financial reporting requirements into clear, structured documentation and enabling scalable, data-driven reporting solutions.
Partner with finance and business stakeholders to:
- Understand current reporting processes (primarily HFM-based)
- Identify reporting logic, data requirements, and business rules
- Capture and document detailed business needs
Analyze financial reports (e.g., income statements, balance sheets) and:
- Translate them into functional and technical requirements
- Define report structures, filters, aggregations, and calculations
Create and maintain:
- Business Requirement Documents (BRDs)
- Functional specifications for BI/reporting solutions
Support the migration from Hyperion (HFM) to ThoughtSpot-based reporting.
Collaborate closely with:
- Data teams (Financial Data Store ownership)
- Engineering and development teams
- BI/reporting teams
Ensure alignment between:
- Business expectations
- Data availability and quality
- Reporting capabilities
Support:
- Data validation and reconciliation processes
- Data quality analysis and issue identification
Understand and document how reporting platforms function end-to-end. Actively participate in stakeholder discussions, challenging assumptions when necessary and driving clarity.
BI / Reporting Tools:
- ThoughtSpot (primary)
- Oracle Analytics Server (OAS)
- Tableau, Power BI, Qlik (nice to have)
Legacy Systems:
- Hyperion Financial Management (HFM)
Data Platforms:
- Financial Data Store
- Oracle Database
Financial Systems (nice to have):
7+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, preferably in BI or financial reporting projects. Strong understanding of financial reporting concepts, including:
- Income statements
- Balance sheets
- General ledger structures
- Financial reconciliation
Proven experience in:
- Requirements gathering and stakeholder interviews
- Writing high-quality Business Requirement Documents (BRDs)
- Translating business needs into structured documentation
Hands-on experience with BI/reporting tools (ThoughtSpot preferred).
Solid understanding of:
- Reporting structures and logic
- Data flows and data models behind BI tools
Ability to:
- Write and understand SQL queries
- Analyze and validate data directly from databases
Experience working with cross-functional and global teams. Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
Experience with:
- ThoughtSpot (including advanced use cases)
- Oracle Analytics Server (OAS)
- Hyperion (HFM)
- OneStream implementation projects
Exposure to:
